Another weekend...

One more weekend, no new tunes :)

Today I had a 30 min practise where I played mostly the tunes I know. Next week I'll probably try to learn new ones like "Concerning Hobbits" or "Gift of a Thistle".

Meanwhile, I'll keep following the Clarke book route, where in the begining I'm mainly learning child songs, which is funny but sometimes too little of a challenge.

That's all for a weekend day.

Cheers!

  1. Whistler Bard,
Hello there!! I have popped in and out of your site and reading your posts on how you are progressing on the whistle. Seems like you are having a great time!! I started myself on whistle last October. I only have a few tunes memorized but I am sitting in on sessions and jumping in on the ones I know (as long as the tempo is not too fast for me).

I also noticed that you said that you are trying to play the tune "Concerning Hobbits". I play Lord of the Rings Online and I love that tune. Could you send me the ABC code for that tune? I will list my email address and website where I list the tunes that I have memorized:

    Thanks and keep whistling!!

  2. Hey there Rob!
Nice to know that someone follows this :)

As for the ABC code I'll post it as soon as I can because I still don't have the entire tune. I've been catching a bit here and there, half by ear half by watching videos, but i'll try my best. Be sure you'll get it right there ant then!

    Thank you for checking this!

    Keep whistling!

  3. I thought I would take a look at your blog after I saw you got stomped on by a member of prominance in Chiff & Fipple.

I didn't think that asking about microphones was odd at all, especially from someone who had been on the site for only a month.

I am curious about your new Low D. I saw them on ebay, and I've read everything that I could find. I'll be anxious to see if you like it.

I just bought a Chieftain V3 Low D and a Burke Aluminum Low D. Both nice whistles, and completely different from each other.

    Toot

  4. Hello there!

Well MTGuru was just doing her job in the Chiff & Fipple, it's ok with me :P

About my new Low D, I'm totally anxious to pick it up, I guess today or tomorow I'll definitly have it! And of course I'll let you know how it plays.

For starters I can tell you that Daniel McGinley is a great person and really helpfull. He'll anwser your questions and doubts in less than 24h (usualy less than that) and really helps you chosing your whistle: with or without offset, pipers grip, etc...

    Cheers!
